Catholic Social Teaching Series: Preferential Option for the Poor
The Catholic Social Teaching Series continues as Fr. Brendan McKeough, O. Praem., examines the principle of the Preferential Option for the Poor.
Throughout both the Old and New Testaments we are reminded that God has a special care and concern for the widow, orphan, children, and the poor—namely those who are the most vulnerable. The history of the Church, most notably in modern social documents written by popes and bishops’ conferences throughout the last century, continues this theme and tries to answer the Gospel mandate to care for the “least of these brothers and sisters.”
